Compiled was the bottom of the old assurance ladder: usable, labelled, not confirmed against an authority. It has been split in two, because it was doing two jobs and hiding the larger one.
Tier 3, Single official source — one official document names it. 642 rows.
Tier 4, Secondary source — a calendar reference rather than the instrument. 1,830 rows.
Those are different claims and they shared a word, which meant a reader could not tell an official notice from a compilation. The split is the main reason the vocabulary changed at all.
This word was retired in September 2026. It is kept as a page because it appears in dossiers published before then, in API responses until the field is removed on 31 March 2027, and in anything a reader bookmarked. Nothing about the underlying standard changed — only what we call the result.
Compiled is one source, or several sharing an upstream. Corroborated requires genuine independence.
Compiled describes how well we know it. An exact date can be compiled, and a verified date can be an estimate.
