Retired label. What is now Tier 1, Authority-sourced.
Verified was the top grade of the old assurance ladder: somebody opened the primary source — a gazette, a statute, a central bank notice — and read the date there. That is now Tier 1, Authority-sourced, and it means exactly the same thing.
The word was retired because it named the outcome rather than the act, and an outcome-shaped label invites a claim nobody checked. 111 rows reached verified through a script that matched an observance name against a document and never compared the date; all 111 were demoted when that was found. A label reading Authority-sourced cannot be reached the same way, because it says what somebody did.
This word was retired in September 2026. It is kept as a page because it appears in dossiers published before then, in API responses until the field is removed on 31 March 2027, and in anything a reader bookmarked. Nothing about the underlying standard changed — only what we call the result.
Verified means the primary source was read. Corroborated means two independent secondary sources agree, which is weaker.
Verified is about our sourcing. Precision is about the date. A verified date may still be an estimate.
